Closure of Public and Business Counters

GPPFollowing the FCO’s recent announcement of the closure of the public and business counters on the 24th March 2011, we are happy to be able to report that as a registered business user, we will still be able to deliver and collect documents on a daily basis, Monday to Friday (except Bank Holidays). This means we will be able to continue to legalise documents within 24 hours. This avoids the need to make an application by post.

Fee Increase
The FCO is due to announce in April 2011 the fee to be charged for an apostille, which is currently set at £30.

Payment method to change
The FCO will no longer operate a business customer credit system and recommend the use of their credit and debit card on line service. If payment for a batch of documents is made by cheque and one of the documents is incorrect, the whole batch of documents will be rejected. The FCO state this is required to meet audit/accounting requirements to ensure the payments for documents that they are unable to legalise at the time of submission are refunded immediately.
