HEALD EXTRA MILE CYCLE CHALLENGE SUCCESS

More than 170 cyclists completed the Extra Mile Cycle Challenge sponsored by Heald Solicitors. The event took place over the weekend of the 24th, 25th and 26th September and consisted of a 500 mile cycle from Lens in Northern France to the Puy de Dome near Clermont-Ferrand. The major sponsor for the event was Heald Solicitors whose contribution enabled the entry price to be kept at the same level as the previous year, despite increasing travel and hotel costs. Trek Cycles also provided sponsorship and entered teams. The event was organised and marshalled by the Rotary Clubs of Milton Keynes Grand Union and Bedford Park.

Senior Partner Martin Banham-Hall is shown here at the summit of the Puy de Dome, a punishing 2½ mile climb up a continuously 1 in 8 gradient; no wonder he looks relieved!
